MKM Design & Construction is an architectural design consultancy that provides a high-quality and comprehensive range of architectural, planning and structural design services. We serve domestic and commercial clients, property investors and property developers throughout the UK. We combine expert knowledge of planning policies, building regulations, construction methods, structural and spatial planning. We act for clients with local and other authorities to get the relevant approvals.

Our key design objective is to fulfill our client’s requirements, cut down construction costs, utilise space for maximum usage and add value to properties.

Our process for securing planning and building-control approvals is below.

Planning

  • Initial consultation to understand client’s requirements
  • Site visit to undertake measured and photographic survey, including on-site consultation
  • Preparation of planning drawings (existing & proposed floor plans, roof plans & elevations) and relevant statements and reports
  • Submission of planning application drawings to client for approval
  • Online submission of planning applications to councils via Planning Portal
  • Monitoring progress of application and consulting with planning officers for amendments
  • Obtaining approval from local authorities and issuing the same to the client

Building Regulations

  • Preparation of detailed drawings and structural design to demonstrate building regulations compliance
  • Providing a copy of the building regulations drawings to client for contractor’s or builder’s quotations
  • Submission of application to the local authority’s Building Control or Private Building Control to be chosen by the client or contractor/builder
  • Submission of application for build-over agreements to drainage authorities where necessary
  • Respond to comments received from the Building Control
  • Respond to any comments received by the Drainage authority
  • Issue of final Building Control drawings, structural calculations, Building Control approval letter and consent letter from Drainage authority to client
